About Us

In the summer of 2008 the Cedar Park City Council commissioned a group of citizens to develop a concept for a Memorial dedicated to our community’s veterans.  The Park is located at 2525 New Hope Drive, near the intersection of RM1431 and New Hope.

After several months of meeting and brainstorming, the Veterans Memorial Citizen Advisory Group developed a Memorial concept based on gratitude, reflection, and hope that honors all branches of the military.

The Park opened on Memorial Day, May 31, 2011.  The Park’s construction was funded as part of the 2007 General Obligation bond money; however, the cost of the Monument was not included in the construction plan. Therefore, we, as a community, raised the funds to construct the Monument dedicated to our veterans.

The Memorial utilizes the ribbon theme to unify and connect the elements of the park. Ribbons are traditionally used in all branches of the military to honor and recognize participation in a specific event or award an individual for specific acts of service. The ribbon also symbolizes all branches of military services working together for one purpose, freedom.

The Park has been well received, and the off Leash Dog Park, "The Cedar Bark Park" is in constant use.

The funds to pay for the Monument have been raised and the Memorial was dedicated on November 12, 2011

The City of Cedar Park has taken over the administration and maintenance of the Memorial and the contact person is Katie Krampitz, Tourism Services, and she can be reached at (512) 401-5070 and by email: Katie.Krampitz@cedarparktx.us.
